Delamere Vineyard is amongst Tasmania's oldest plantings of pinot noir and chardonnay vines. Run meticulously by husband and wife team, Shane Holloway and Fran Austin (former Chief Winemaker of Bay of Fires Winery) this esteemed estate is also home to their young son Zachary, Chili the dog, several chickens and guinea fowl, and whichever family members have been roped in to help out whilst visiting Tasmania that month. Delamere is known for producing an exceptional range of sparkling and table wines from estate grown fruit. In his own words, owner/winemaker Shane Holloway says, "Delamere represents to me the opportunity to produce wines from the vineyard through to the glass, working alongside family with some of the finest quality fruit in the country." Also on offer at Cellar Door are the "Naissante"wines. These wines are a blend of exceptional parcels of fruit, sourced from a collection of growers around Tasmania. The delicious range of aromatic white varieties, plus a pinot noir, reflects the quality and diversity of vineyard sites around the region. Very much a working winery and cellar door, every visit can be different depending on the time of year. You may be lucky enough to peek into a fermenting tank or barrel, taste wines that are in the process of being blended, or watch the wines being labeled and boxed up, all to a backdrop of lively music from the winery. Why not enjoy a picnic with a glass of wine in the idyllic gardens at Delamere Vineyards. Bring your gourmet produce from local farm gates and delicatessens. We have everything else you might need, from picnic rugs, beanbags, tables and benches to crockery and cutlery. There are also toys, a large lawn and plenty of chickens for the kids to chase, leaving you free to experience the Delamere and Naissante wines!
